LITHIA PARK – Walking / Hiking Trails

In the center of downtown Ashland is Lithia Park, Ashland’s crown jewel. Lithia Park is a 93-acre vista of emerald lawns, tennis courts, a sand-pit volleyball court, picnic area, colorful landscaping and playground equipment. The park follows Ashland Creek through undeveloped woodlands, and also includes a Japanese garden, two duck ponds, a formal rose garden, groves of sycamore trees and a number of secluded spots.
A great place to hang out with the family for the afternoon, jog, walk your dog or just meet with friends and feed the ducks.

Oregon Shakespeare Festival

In 1935 the Oregon Shakespeare Festival was born.  The Tony Award winning festival is one of  the largest and oldest professional non profit theatres in the nation.  Every year they present over 8 months of plays in numerous theaters.  There is a theatre education program also. They operate on a budget in excess of $26 million.  Talk about a big production… they have more that 750 performances with an audience of around 400,000 people per year.

Mount Ashland – Skiing

Mt. Ashland Ski area is located 7,532 ft up Mount Ashland and features 23 trails on 200 acres.  The mountain gets over 300 inches of snow each year and has 4 lifts.  The ski season usually starts in early December through April.   The are a variety of runs, from beginning to advanced.  They have a great lodge to warm up in, relax and have a bite to eat.  Even if you don’t ski, it is a fun place to visit.
